Assists in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases. Also measures the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is impaired function. Acts as the leader within the Respiratory Therapy department. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a manager. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy required. Current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in Idaho required. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS-C) required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KMC BLS within 60 days of hire. Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required. Credentialed as an RRT (RCP III) by the NBRC required. Minimum of four years of previous clinical/hospital experience required. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Essential Job Functions (Physical Requirements): Able to be on feet (walking, standing) for at least ten hours of a twelve-hour shift. Must be able to move quickly to an area of patient crisis Must be able to bend, stoop, reach over the head and push equipment Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must have correctable visual acuity to read patient reports and monitors Exposure to chemical, radiological and biological hazards requiring personal protective devices Must be able to stay calm in emergency situations Communicate with patients, physicians, families and co-workers in person and on telephone. Work with equipment and manipulate equipment settings, computer keyboard, etc.
