As a Chemical Dependency Counselor on our interdisciplinary team you will play a critical role in the delivery of individual, family, and group counseling for patients/clients in our chemical dependency programs. You will provide direct supervision of patients and clients at all times while in care or as services are being delivered, acting as a liaison/advocate between patients, relatives, medical staff, and outside agencies if needed. Additionally, you will monitor and document patient/client progress and the dispensation of treatment services, maintaining a working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, skills, procedures, and evidence-based practices within behavioral health/addiction field.
Minimum Qualifications: The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare requires that the clinicians be approved as meeting requirements per IDAPA 16.07.20 subsections 218 and 223 found at http://adminrules.idaho.gov/rules/current/16/0720.pdf 1. Qualified Substance Use Disorders Professional. A qualified substance use disorders professional includes the following: a. IBADCC Certified Alcohol/Drug Counselor; b. IBADCC Advanced Certified Alcohol/Drug Counselor; c. Northwest Indian Alcohol/Drug Specialist Certification - Counselor I, Counselor II or Counselor III; IDAHO ADMINISTRATIVE CODE IDAPA 16.07.20 Department of Health and Welfare ASUD Treatment & RSS Facilities & Programs Section 221 d. National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) - Master Addictions Counselor (MAC); OR e. "Licensed Clinical Social Worker" (LCSW) or a "Licensed Masters Social Worker" (LMSW) licensed under Title 54, Chapter 32, Idaho Code; f. "Marriage and Family Therapist" or "Associate Marriage and Family Therapist," licensed under Title 54, Chapter 34, Idaho Code; g. "Nurse Practitioner" licensed under Title 54, Chapter 14, Idaho Code; h. "Clinical Nurse Specialist" licensed under Title 54, Chapter 14, Idaho Code; i. "Physician Assistant" licensed under Title 54, Chapter 18, Idaho Code, and IDAPA 22.01.03, "Rules for the Licensure of Physician Assistants"; j. "Licensed Professional Counselor" (LPC) or a "Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor" (LCPC) licensed under Title 54, Chapter 34, Idaho Code; k. "Psychologist," or a "Psychologist Extender" licensed under Title 54, Chapter 23, Idaho Code; l. "Physician" licensed under Title 54, Chapter 18, Idaho Code;
2. Qualified Substance Use Disorders Professional Status Granted Prior to May 1, 2010. Subsections 218.01 and 218.02 of this section are applicable to all new applications for appointment as a qualified Substance Use Disorders Professional submitted to the Department after May 1, 2010. If an individual was granted an appointment prior to May 1, 2010, and met the requirements at that time, he may continue to have his appointment recognized. 3. Arrangement for Provision of Counseling Services. If the program arranges for the provision of counseling services, it must maintain a valid written agreement or contract with a qualified substance use disorders professional as defined in Subsection 218.01 of this section. 4. Must complete appropriate CEU to keep certification in good standing. 5. Basic Life Support Required. 6. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KMC BLS within 60 days of hire. 7. Annual crisis prevention training required
