  • SUPERVISOR, NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT (NICU) RESPIRATORY CARE

Job Description
 
Oversees and coordinates the day to day respiratory care activities in the NICU ensuring effective and efficient operations.  Functions as a respiratory resource and an integrated member of the multidisciplinary NICU care team.  Collaborates with other NICU care team members in the creation of care policies, procedures and care plans, assuring that these are evidence based and consistent with recognized industry best practice.  Works cooperatively and collaboratively with NICU medical staff and all other members of the NICU care team.  Assures that all members of the NICU respiratory care team have objective assessment of required competencies performed and documented at prescribed intervals.  Participate in annual performance appraisal process for all NICU RCPs.  Maintains respiratory care quality assurance/ PI programs for the NICU.  Maintains all standards for state and federal regulations.  Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.  Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
 
Minimum Qualifications:
1.     Associate's Degree required.  Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care, Management, Healthcare Administration, or other related area preferred.
2.     Minimum of three years' experience in NICU Respiratory Care required
3.     RRT required.
4.     State of Idaho Respiratory Care license required.
5.     2 years supervisory experience preferred.
6.     Recent experience on Labor & Delivery High Risk Delivery Team preferred
7.     Experience and proficiency in Neonatal Intubation preferred
8.     Experience and proficiency in implementation of High Frequency Oscillator Ventilation in for the neonate preferred
9.     BLS required during general orientation
10.  NRP and Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty Credential (NPS) required
 
 
Essential Job Functions:
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function.
On feet or sitting a minimum of 8-12 hours, depending on length of shift.
Frequent stooping, bending, reaching, lifting and pushing heavy stretchers and other equipment.
Read patient charts, CRT, equipment gauges/, monitors, schedules, technical literature and a variety of other printed and handwritten materials.
Effectively communicate with patients, physicians, families and co-workers in person and on telephone.
Work with equipment and manipulate equipment settings, computer keyboard, etc.
 
Work Environment: 
·         Kootenai Health operates 24 hours per day each day of the year; operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the patients.
·         Kootenai Health Clinic locations have operation hours based on locations and patient needs therefore availability to work all shifts, weekends and holidays as appropriate for location will be expected and required.
·         Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment.
