Using AORN's Periop 101 Core Curriculum, as the Periop 101 Coordinator, you will implement and facilitate the education and training of nurses new to the operating room. You will be responsible for organizing and directing the online didactic course and book learning, the clinical practicum, and skills labs as well as management of the AORN Learning Center. You will meet regularly with the student to accomplish additional tasks, such as answering students' questions from the textbook reading assignments and online learning modules, reviewing the post-tests, introducing Kootenai-specific policies, completing some of the suggested group exercises together (including demos and skills labs), viewing the recommended DVDs, sharing experiences, bringing in guest speakers, and making sure module concepts are completely understood. You will arrange the student's clinical practicum/preceptorship for both circulating and scrubbing and will also ensure staff utilized as preceptors are prepared for the role by assisting them to obtain the AORN Preceptor Certificate.
Minimum Qualifications: 1. Current license as Registered Nurse in the state of Idaho. 2. BSN required Master's in Nursing preferred 3. Maintains AORN Periop 101 Administrator recognition 4. A minimum of five (5) years' experience both circulating and scrubbing in a perioperative setting. 5. Previous experience in designing, developing, conducting and evaluating training programs for adult learners preferred. 6. BLS and ACLS Required.
