Purpose of Job: Serve in dual role within CHAS Health and Washington State University College of Nursing (WSU) by: 1) Improving the overall health of the communities we serve by providing primary medical services at CHAS Health clinics in accordance with policies, procedures and regulations of the CHAS Health Board of Directors and Administration. 2) Serving as preceptor educator, clinician provider, and project liaison to a federally funded grant. 3) The NPFR will have 50% clinical responsibilities at CHAS Health, 40% faculty responsibilities at WSU and 10% administrative responsibilities at the Washington State University College of Nursing. Essential Duties and Responsibilities at CHAS Health: - Treats a mixed patient population, across gender, age and ethnicity, as well as insured and uninsured patients. - Examines patient to determine general physical condition. Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines. - Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition. - Analyzes reports and findings and diagnoses condition. - Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures. Orders inoculations and vaccinations for patients to immunize from communicable diseases. Performs minor surgery. Refers patients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment. - Advises patients concerning diet, hygiene, and methods for prevention of disease. - Records and/or signs off on physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis, based on patient's condition, in patient's electronic chart in accordance with established standards. - Reports births, deaths, and outbreak of contagious diseases to governmental authorities. - Provides direct clinical precepting of students. - Participates in provider staff meetings to develop problem-solving techniques, and acquire team-building skills. Participates in peer reviews. - Participates in clinic quality initiatives as requested. - Performs other duties as assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities at WSU: - Maintains joint practice with WSU and CHAS Health. - Performs grant duties as follows: - Engages CHAS Health preceptors in WSU preceptor education program. - Collaborates with CHAS Health's Health Outcomes Team (HOT), and WSU to integrate approaches to real-world clinical and organizational problems into WSU curriculum. - Brings student feedback back to CHAS Health's HOT team. - Facilitates inclusion of evaluation tools at partner clinic. - Serves on the Education and Grant Outcomes Teams at WSU. - Assists in implementing feedback mechanisms from student and preceptor performance. - Contributes teaching expertise to WSU through limited classroom teaching and participates in teaching faculty meetings as is appropriate. Qualifications: Education/Experience: Graduation from a Doctoral level, accredited Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner School required. Two years of clinical experience required. BLS certification required. Valid licensure in Washington State required. Secure narcotic prescription privileges. Board Certified or Eligible. Skills: Effective oral and written communication skills required. Must be able to secure credentialing through identified agencies (Medicare, Medicaid, etc.). Physical Demands: Providers must be able to move around the facility between 1/3rd and 2/3rds of the day, as well as sit at a workstation or in patient rooms. Using hands occurs over 2/3rds of the day, while reaching with arms occurs less than 1/3rd of the day. Communicating is also required over 2/3rds of the day, while climbing, stooping or crawling is minimal. Lifting up to 10 lbs occurs about half the time, while up to and above 25 lbs occurs only occasionally.
