Job Description Performs duties as a Health Unit Coordinator and as a CNA. Responsible for providing secretarial support for all employees. Maintains and updates patients' records. Performs various direct patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Assists patients in dressing or undressing, bathing, or eating. Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens or gathers vital signs but does not start or administer intravenous fluids. Assists physicians and nursing staff with procedures if needed. Documents patient interactions as needed. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: 1. High school diploma or GED required 2. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required. 3. 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified preferred. 4. Knowledge of spelling and medical terminology preferred. BLS Required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KH BLS during General Orientation.
Essential Job Functions (Physical Requirements): Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function. · Required to be able to sit for up to 4 hrs per day depending on length of shift. · Occasionally may be required to lift up to 20 lbs, floor to waist, waist to shoulder and above shoulder height. No or very limited exposure to physical risk. Communicate with patients, physicians, families and co-workers in person and on telephone. Work with equipment and manipulate equipment settings, computer keyboard, etc.
Work Environment: · Kootenai Health operates 24 hours per day each day of the year, operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the patients. · Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment.
