Job Description Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures. Follows hospital regulations and industry procedures to tend to patient during pre-operation procedures. Performs pre-operation preparations to the patient's skin, body and medical equipment. Assists in transporting patient to and from the operating room. Actively involved in process improvement. Familiar with industry standards and hospital policy in caring for patients intra-op. Relies on moderate experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program 2 years' experience in an operating room Surgical Technician Certification (CST) Competent in two specialty areas Must be certified to perform CPR BLS Required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KH BLS during General Orientation.
Essential Job Functions (Physical Requirements): Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function. · On feet a minimum of 8-12 hours, depending on length of shift. · Moderate physical activity. Requires frequent stooping, bending, reaching, lifting and pushing heavy equipment up to 50 pounds. · Read charts, dials, equipment settings, literature and other printed and handwritten materials. · Communicate with patients, physicians, families and co-workers in person and on telephone. · Work with equipment and manipulate equipment settings, computer keyboard, etc.
Work Environment: · Kootenai Health operates 24 hours per day each day of the year; operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the patients. · Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment.
