Performs technical protocol and procedures associated with the assessment and diagnosis of sleep and breathing disorders among participants in a specified clinical or research study.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required. Registration/Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist, or Registration as an Electroencephalographic Technologist preferred. Registered, as a Polysomnographic Technologist preferred. or Registration as a Polysomnographic Technologist within two years of hire required. A minimum of 6 months experience in sleep disorders medicine in a licensed facility required. Current Idaho state permit to perform Polysomnographic Related Respiratory Care, or Idaho state Respiratory Care Provider License, required. BLS Required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross or KMC BLS within 60 days of hire. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: On feet or sitting a minimum of 8-12 hours, depending on length of shift. Moderate physical activity. Requires occasional handling of items up to 100 pounds. Frequent stooping, bending, reaching, lifting and pushing heavy equipment. Read charts, dials, equipment settings, literature and other printed and handwritten materials. Communicate with patients, physicians, families and co-workers in person and on telephone. Work with equipment and manipulate equipment settings, computer keyboard, etc. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Kootenai Health operates 24 hours per day each day of the year, operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the patients. Work is performed in an interior medical/clinical environment. Work may involve some exposure to operating circumstances that require following standard or prescribed safety precautions.
