A specialty sales company in South Seattle, WA is looking for a Senior Cost Accountant to independently manage and lead activities related to inventory, manufacturing and project costing including variance analysis and process improvement projects of the inventory and manufacturing cost function.
RESPONSIBILITIES Familiar with Project costing and possess strong ERP system experience. Work with the team to develop the Project Costing module Manage the inventory month-end close process including the ERP closing of the system module, closing work orders, projects and running the month end reports Analyze and validate the cost of goods sold (and deferred cost of goods sold) and other cost of sales and manufacturing costs as part of the month-end close Reconciles all inventory and related reserves as part of the month-end close process. Perform quarterly review of standard and actual costs for inaccuracies and lead activities to identify the root issues, solve problems, and provide recommendations to management Research, analyze and provide recommendations on gross margin by custom product and product line at each period-end. Analyzing changes in product design such as ECO, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided. Prepare, analyze and create journal entries to correctly value overhead costs to capitalized inventory as required by GAAP Manage the accuracy of demo inventory and parts and improve the process flow working with operations Lead and partner with operations on the bi-annual cost roll up for inventory accuracy. Lead and partner with operations on the physical inventory and cycle count program including investigation and remediation of count variance root causes Analyze the reserves for E+O and warranty and prepare the journal entry for Controller review Lead, analyze and investigate variances such as labor, material, and overhead with recommendations and solutions to problems and issues encountered. Lead and analyze budget/actual and forecast/actual variances and provide succinct explanations for management review Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS Bachelor's Degree (B.A) in Finance or Accounting and a minimum of three to five years of accounting or financial analysis experience including cost accounting and controlling in a manufacturing environment or equivalent commensurate experience. Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Diverse accounting and financial skills, ability to perform in areas of accounting outside of cost accounting. Ability to manage and prioritize conflicting demands with a strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. Ability to be extremely organized, results driven, with the ability to handle diverse assignments concurrently. Strategic thinker with strong analytical/problem solving skills. Strong computer and ERP skills including MS Office, Outlook and MS NAV Ability to exercise independent judgment to perform essential duties. Ability to develop instructions and guidelines to perform functions of the job when necessary. Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills with the ability to present information internally.
