Answers the telephone to receive orders for patient menus using the hospital-wide order entry (Meditech) and room service specific software (CBORD). Follows Meditech orders to serve our patients. Determines what items may be sent in accordance with the diet order while working with patients to help them understand what foods work well within the diet order. Processes menus for all patients who have an active diet order using established systems to meet stated service times. Follows up on missed meals to offer food to our patients. Assists with guest trays and staff meals according to procedures. Takes messages, answers questions and relays information to the supervisors and clinical dietitians using established department guidelines. Maintains all required records, reports, statistics, logs, files and other documents required. Coordinates CBORD system updates and data base maintenance. Coordinates the call center and registered dietitian projects. Leads call center team meetings. Assists with development of education materials and leads training in the call center. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Performs other related duties as assigned.
1. High school diploma or equivalent required. 2. Training in Dietetics or experience in dietary office preferred.
Essential Job Functions (Physical Requirements): On feet a minimum of 2-4 hours, depending on length of shift. Ability to sit for a minimum of 4-6 hours, depending on length of shift. Exposure to extreme heat and cold for short periods of time. May need to work in confined spaces for short periods of time Communicate with patients, physicians, families and co-workers in person and on telephone. Work with equipment and manipulate equipment settings, computer keyboard, etc. Work Environment: Kootenai Health operates 24 hours per day each day of the year; operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the patients. Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment.
