SUMMARY: Perform responsible professional work in the evaluation, planning and implementation of Therapeutic Recreation programs to increase, maintain or restore functions, maximize or prevent disability and assist patients in reaching their maximum performance levels in the areas of leisure education, adaptive recreation, and recreational activities; work within a team in the delivery of care; participate in educational experiences for students.

Bachelor's degree in recreation therapy, therapeutic recreation, recreation administration or an equivalent program required. Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Therapist by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation required. BLS Required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross or KMC BLS within 60 days of hire. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: On feet up to 8-12 hours, depending on length of shift. Frequent stooping, bending, reaching, lifting and pushing heavy equipment. Read charts, dials, equipment settings, literature and other printed and handwritten materials. Communicate with patients, physicians, families and co-workers in person and on telephone. Work with equipment and manipulate equipment settings, computer keyboard, etc. Potential exposure to contagious diseases, body fluids, hazardous chemicals, needles and other infected material. Exposure to violent and unpredictable individuals. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Kootenai Health operates 24 hours per day each day of the year, operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the patients. Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment. Must possess a valid driver's license.
