  • PROJECT ACCOUNTANT - Commercial Construction

A well established commercial construction company in Seattle,WA is looking to hire a Project Accountant. The ideal candidate will be charged with handling most day to day accounting related responsibilities and activities associated with projects on and off the jobsite.

KEY RESPONSIBILIES:
The Project Accountant will be a functional expert in the areas -

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE
- Prepare AP vouchers and supporting documentation for review
- Scan invoices into Invoice Router
- Route invoices for approvals.
- Process weekly check run.
- Field vendor inquiries.
- Research various problem invoices.
- Processing AP transfers.

SUBCONTRACT PAYABLE:
- Performing committed cost maintenance.
- Ensure documentation is properly assembled
- Ensure subcontract payable vouchers and supporting documentation

CHECK RUN:
- Posting payables and management of check runs
- Ensure cash discount opportunities are evaluated and taken.

ESTIMATES:
- Entering original estimates for job
- Entering owner change order estimates
- Entering estimates transfers.
- Balancing estimate and subsequent owner change orders

JOB COSTS:
- Subcontractor/Major PO commitment maintenance
- Owner contract estimate maintenance
- Monthly Job Cost Report analysis and reconciliation
- Project close-out at end of project

OWNER CHANGE ORDER:
- Assisting project manager with estimate changes required by owner change orders.
- Updating subcontract commitments
- Balancing job estimate with the final contract value.

OWNER BILLING:
- Preparing owner billing based on contract requirements.
- Working with Project Manager on job specific billing requirements.
- Represent Project Team at monthly Owner pay request meetings as required.
- Posting billings in AR and Contracts.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Associates Degree in Accounting or related field plus five years accounting experience in the construction industry or similar environment, or equivalent combination.
- Bachelor's degree [BA] Preferred.
- Knowledge accounting software such as Timberline or Great Plains.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to speak effectively with customers and employees of the organization.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
