Purpose of Job: Improve the overall health of the communities we serve by enrolling, educating patients about CHAS services and community resources, and overseeing the management of patients assigned to or eligible for CHAS managed care contracts as follows:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Works with a mixed patient population, across gender, age and ethnicity as well as insured and uninsured patients. - Acquires a thorough working knowledge of managed care programs. - Reviews patient demographics to determine which programs may be available and helps enroll non-insured patients in to Medicaid, Qualified Health Plans, and other managed care plans. - Educates new patients on clinic and plan rules and patient responsibility. - Participates in outreach programs throughout the community. - Communicates with patients regarding proper use of insurance plan. - Provides training for all staff on current managed care issues. - Updates eligibility/managed care tracking system on a regular basis. - Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education/Experience: HS diploma or equivalent required. Health industry experience strongly preferred. Experience working with medical insurance very helpful. Face-to-face customer/patient service experience required.
Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication. Basic computer and typing skills required. In- Person Assistor (IPA) certification required within 90 days of hire.
