Member Services Representative I

Kootenai Electric Cooperative, Inc. is seeking to fill the position of Member Services Representative I. Duties involve providing support to our members, which can entail any or all of the following:

-Administer account changes including member inquiries concerning billing, services, and KEC policies; process new memberships and accounts and account closures; handle actions resulting from service disconnects and disconnect/reconnect service requests; other account-related activities.
-Provide courteous and professional member services; handle mail and process payments; assist members with payment arrangements and account transfers; handle new service applications; ensure confidentiality of member records; maintain member information; perform data entry; file.
-Administer new service procedures, including advising members of procedures and requirements, exchanging new service information with contractors, electricians, and city/county offices, and processing paperwork relating to new services; verify easements and process permits; generate service order tracking; other duties relating to new services.
-Perform billing functions, including responding to member inquiries concerning energy usage/consumption, billing amounts, rates, and ways to reduce consumption; assist in managing and monitoring AMR meter reading system; post meter readings to member accounts; prepare billing reports and billing statements; balance billing transactions; handle e-pay payments, and related billing activities.
-Process credit and collections functions, including write-offs, account collection coordination with credit bureaus; administer delinquent accounts and create collection and disconnection service orders; other credit/collections related activities.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Wage will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. KEC provides a rich benefits package and a warm and friendly working environment.

Requirements for this position include:

-High school diploma or GED and 6 months or more of customer service experience.
-Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
-Must be proficient at problem solving using tact and diplomacy.
-Must demonstrate organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
-Ability to work on multiple transactions concurrently and work independently.
-Experience with PC software, computers, peripherals, 10-key adding machine, & other office machines and with general office practices and procedures.
-Team player able to work in harmony with other team members.
-Ability to understand, interpret, and apply departmental processes and procedures.
-Experience with customer services, billing rates, credit procedures, and office telephone procedures.
-Mathematics (adjustments & calculations) and basic bookkeeping (balancing & audit trails) skills.
-Valid driver license.
