A North Idaho Manufacturing company is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their team! This role will be responsible for the design and/or modification of existing mechanical, electronic, and hydraulic systems used in the manufacturing of land based drilling equipment. Specific areas of focus include working with manufacturing, product management and a team of design engineers to achieve on-time delivery and continuous product improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Follow each drill from the initial configuration through production and delivery to ensure final product is delivered as designed. Develop a base understanding of the various products produced by Bay Shore Systems. Develops configuration and transport specification drawings as requested by the sales department. Creates, checks, and updates engineering drawings and design documentation. Continuously working on new ways to increase production or minimize mistakes based off input from all of BSS.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Competence with 2D and 3D CAD packages (AutoCAD and SolidWorks used and preferred, but familiarity with other packages will be accepted). Hands on mechanical background including experience welding, machining, or other similar fabrication techniques Experience designing steel weldments and performing complex weld analysis Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Ability to take direction. Based understanding of project management and meeting a production schedule. Honest, trustworthy attitude. Strong commitment to accuracy and thoroughness in product.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position does not require a high level of physical flexibility or strength. But, does require the ability to: see and assess drawings, photos, and written instructions; audibly hear verbal instructions and mechanical signals; and speak, read, write, and communicate effectively.
Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, equipment, hot materials, moderate to extreme noise, fumes, and airborne particles. Must agree to wear any and all necessary personal protective equipment to include: Eye protection required to reduce risk of injury. Approved footwear required. Ear protection is required. Other PPE as necessary to perform duties Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
EDUCATION: Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Fundamentals of Engineering Certificate of Professional Engineering license preferred but not required
