Supervises MLS staff who work evening and night shift.  Oversees the work of the evening shift and is a technical resource to them in order to assure quality of work, safety and satisfaction at a time when technical supervisors are not present. Troubleshoot issues as they arise on the evening shift; Communicate to providers, House supervisor and nursing when issues arise that will significantly delay completion of lab results. Work with Technical supervisor team to plan and facilitate change, growth and culture improvement in the lab.  Schedule MLS staff in the Main lab for all shifts.  May perform the work as a MLS as needed. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A limited degree of creativity and latitude is required. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
1.     Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry or Biology is required; or, Ninety semester hours (or equivalent in quarter hours) of college courses, with a minimum of 48 semester hours in chemistry, biology and mathematics required.
2.     Formal laboratory training (e.g., "internship") in an accredited laboratory, including lecture and supervised practical instruction in Blood Banking.
3.     Successful completion of ASCP-MT, NCA-CLS, HHS, or AMT-MT laboratory technologist (scientist) examination.  Other comparable certification credentials may be acceptable to the laboratory administrative director and /or chief pathologist. 
4.     One year of pertinent full time laboratory experience in an accredited laboratory required.
5.     Work history of increasing responsibility and supervisory experience in a hospital setting and in one or more laboratory sections preferred.
Essential Job Functions (Physical Requirements):
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function.
·         Ability to stand and move around for at least 8 hours per shift.
·         Correctly perceive colors and shades.
·         Bend, lift, reach and move up to 25 pounds.
·         Exposure to acids, soaps, disinfectants, other chemicals including some potentially hazardous substances requiring personal protective equipment.
·         Exposure to blood, urine, other body substances, including those carrying potentially infectious diseases requiring personal protective equipment.
·         Exposure to potential hazard of electrical shock and to mechanical injury.
Communicate with patients, physicians, families and co-workers in person and on telephone.
Work with equipment and manipulate equipment settings, computer keyboard, etc.
Work Environment: 
·         KH operates 24 hours per day each day of the year, operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the patients.
·         Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment.
