Kootenai Health is seeking a community-minded, quality driven, and highly motivated individual to fill the role of Patient Account Representative in our Outpatient Surgical Center.
Job Summary / Essential Duties · Organize patient claims for electronic or hard copy mail and forward to appropriate third party payers · Review claims to make sure specific billing requirements are met · Follow up on billing · Determine and apply appropriate adjustments and updates to accounts · Answer billing inquiries · Perform other related duties as assigned · Communicate with patients, physicians, families and co-workers in person and on telephone · Regular and predictable attendance is essential
Requirements & Minimum Qualifications
· High school graduate or equivalent is required · Basic bookkeeping principles, statistical reporting, general business procedures, knowledge of registration, collection and billing rules and regulations are required. · Basic accounting, billing computer, coding and medical terminology coursework is preferred. (Medical terminology, ICD9, CPT4, HCPCS and coding conventions) · Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and commercial billing requirements including UB92, 1500, claims and correspondence, Medicaid Claim Inquiry Form (CIF) and Appeals · Working knowledge of hospital information systems such as MediTech, SMS MS4, or HBOC · Knowledge of Electronic Billing Software including QUBE, DDE, Medi.Com, SSI, DSG or other commonly used vendors · Familiar with Managed Care environment including contract interpretation and validation of appropriate reimbursement. · Physical job functions: majority of shift spent sitting; ability to work at computer terminal for a specified period of time; frequent stooping, bending, reaching, lifting and pushing heavy equipment; read charts, dials, equipment settings, literature and other printed and handwritten material; no or very limited exposure to physical risk; work with equipment and manipulate equipment settings, computer keyboard, etc.
