Kootenai Health is seeking a detail oriented, quality driven, and highly motivated Coder with knowledge of Wellness Coding and HCC capture to join the Clinic Coding team as the newest Kootenai Clinic Coder II!
As a Coder on our team you will assign appropriate ICD and CPT codes to reflect services documented in the medical record in accordance with regulatory guidelines, assure all services rendered have been billed appropriately, analyze and review billing denials for coding specific denial reasons, review medical record documentation to assure services are billed with the appropriate ICD,CPT codes and modifiers, review Explanation of Benefits (EOB's) to assure appropriate reimbursement by payers, generate appeal letters, as needed requesting claim reprocessing or adjustments, analyze denial trends to provide recommendations to reduce claim denials and optimize reimbursement, develop tools for analysis and presentation of results, communicate with staff regarding billing issues and changes as it pertains to payer specific regulations, provides instruction and training to business office staff on payer specific billing requirements, develop materials for training sessions with clinic staff, and work collaboratively with the Manager to define process improvements within the department and charge entry trends within the clinic. Requirements & Minimum Qualifications 1. High school diploma or GED equivalent. 2. Coding certification; AAPC, RHIT, RHIA, CCA or CCS-P required 3. Minimum 1-year clinic coding and billing experience. 4. Demonstrated knowledge of ICD/CPT coding principles, coding software, and the AHIMA coding competencies. 5. Effective human relation skills are required for interacting with all levels of clinic staff, including providers 6. Knowledge of payer specific billing regulations required.
