Purpose of the Job: The Health Records Technician Supervisor will provide outstanding customer service at all points of contact continuing to provide resources based on patient's health care needs while providing leadership to the Health Records Team:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Responds to requests for copies of health records and ensures appropriate paperwork is on file for processing and payment. - Works closely with patients and clinic employees to provide timely and accurate health record information as needed. - Processes, stores, and retrieves electronic health information. Maintains and utilizes a variety of health record indexes, storage, and retrieval systems. - Prepares input for electronic health information systems and for processing vital statistics, insurance, as well as other forms and documents. - Scans patient health records into patients' electronic file and keeps electronic files current. - Stores and/or destroys obsolete files in accordance with company policy and legal requirements. - Works and communicates well with co-workers to maximize efficiency within the department as well as in the clinics. - Coaches and develops staff encouraging teamwork and employee engagement. - Trains and supervises Health Records Staff. - Performs data compilation, reporting, and tracking functions related to Health Records metrics and goals. - Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education/Experience: High School diploma or equivalent required. Supervisory experience preferred. Experience working in a medical office setting, health care databases, electronic health records, and releases of information required.
Skills: Excellent interpersonal, listening, verbal, and written communication skills required. Computer skills required. Ability to document information electronically, clearly, and efficiently while using medical terminology with accurate spelling. Attention to detail. Knowledge of appropriate HIPAA regulations required. Ability to organize and lead a team of people to accomplish goals required. Compassion for patients required.
Physical Demands: While preforming the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to move around the facility; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25lbs.
