Job Description Performs chart processing function for the patient medical record; such as prepare, scan, index, and quality review of the scanned medical record. Works in various EMR's reviewing release information with a high level of accuracy and documents appropriately for an accounting of disclosure. Reviews the legal components of the medical record, ensuring that release of information activities are performed with the highest level of accuracy. Uses knowledge and training of regulatory compliance and RCW, as it relates to patients right to restrict and amend their record. Follows record retention guidelines, including Kootenai Health's policy for records destruction and age of retention, also outlined in RCW 70.41.190. Manages the patient identity in accordance with the red flag rules and regulations. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: 1. High School diploma or equivalent required 2. Degree in Health Information Management or RHIT certification preferred. 3. Two years previous medical office or medical record experience preferred. 4. Demonstrates the ability to apply knowledge of office operation and proficiency in computer applications related to position duties with a variety of software.
Essential Job Functions (Physical Requirements): · Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function. · Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. · No or very limited physical effort required. · No or very limited exposure to physical risk. · Communicate with patients, physicians, families, and co-workers in person and on the telephone. · Work with equipment and manipulate equipment settings, computer keyboard, etc.
Work Environment: · Kootenai Health operates 24 hours per day each day of the year; operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the patients. · Kootenai Health Clinic locations have operation hours based on locations and patient needs. Therefore, availability to work all shifts, weekends and holidays as appropriate for the location will be expected and required. · Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment
