Kootenai Heart Clinics Northwest - Coeur d'Alene is seeking a community-minded, quality driven, and highly motivated Health Information Specialist to join our team!
About the Health Information Specialist Job Performs chart processing function for the patient medical record; such as prepare, scan, index, and quality review of the scanned medical record. Works in various EMR's reviewing release information with a high level of accuracy and documents appropriately for an accounting of disclosure. Reviews the legal components of the medical record, ensuring that release of information activities are performed with the highest level of accuracy. Uses knowledge and training of regulatory compliance and RCW, as it relates to patients right to restrict and amend their record. Follows record retention guidelines, including Kootenai Health's policy for records destruction and age of retention, also outlined in RCW 70.41.190. Manages the patient identity in accordance with the red flag rules and regulations.
Requirements & Minimum Qualifications:
Education / Certification / Licensure · High School diploma or equivalent required · Degree in Health Information Management or RHIT certification preferred.
Experience · Two years previous medical office or medical record experience preferred. · Demonstrates the ability to apply knowledge of office operation and proficiency in computer applications related to position duties with a variety of software.
