Job Description Performs quality echocardiograms in accordance with established departmental procedures and protocols. Provides preliminary diagnostic evaluation by completing a thorough preliminary report on a PACS. If necessary, consults with cardiologist regarding exam's results. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of adult echocardiology. Responsible to learn new technology and types of echo exams/procedures as required. Shares in call rotation for weeknights, weekends, and holidays, with the ability to comply within 30-minute response time. Performs standard office tasks: performing functions within the EMR, answering phones, cleaning equipment and stocking exam rooms. Maintains a high commitment to quality and patient safety. Comfortable working closely with patients and able to assist in transfer. Works under general supervision and closely with co-workers. Able to work well independently, relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and assigned tasks. Typically reports to a manager. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Echo is covered by call from 5pm -7am, 7 nights per week. Typical call requirements are 1 night per week and every 5th weekend.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate's degree (AA), or equivalent, from a college or technical school in Echocardiography or; experience and training necessary for designation of "Registry Eligible" in Echocardiography required. RDMS or RCS Registration required within 6 months of hire. BLS Required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KH BLS within general orientation.
Essential Job Functions (Physical Requirements): Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function. · On feet a minimum of 8-12 hours, depending on length of shift. · Frequent stooping, bending, reaching, lifting and pushing heavy equipment. · Read charts, monitors, equipment settings, and professional literature. · Communicate with patients, physicians, families and co-workers in person and on telephone in a professional manner. · Work with a variety of echocardiography equipment and manipulate equipment settings to optimize images. · Basic knowledge of computer functions.
Work Environment: · Kootenai Health operates 24 hours per day each day of the year; operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the patients. · Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment, and can involve working in OR and interventional lab settings.
