Purpose of Job: Improve the overall health of the communities we serve by providing best practices for Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) focused substance abuse counseling services to patients and families by performing the following duties: Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Qualifications: Performs chemical dependency assessments using approved testing instruments and evaluative tools, and determining patient amenability for Opioid Recovery services and/or referral to other agencies or program services. Develops detailed care plans for each patient. Conducts individual and group counseling and education focusing on alcohol and drug treatment, relapse prevention, and cognitive behavioral change. Conducts or facilitates breath analysis and/or urinalysis testing for alcohol and drugs to ensure compliance with opiate taper management and aftercare abstinence. Participates in trainings for Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and opioid treatment clinical best practices. Participates in continuous program improvement activities including staff meetings, committees and other relevant projects. Performs other duties as assigned. Education/Experience: Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in social or behavioralscience or related field; and five years' experience in treatment of chemical dependency/addiction disorders; and two years' experience in treatment for opioid dependency. Must be a Certified Alcohol/Drug Counselor (CADC) required Other Skills: Knowledge of available community linkage resources. Excellent oral and written communications skills required. Computer skills required. Work requires consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion. Physical Demands: Movement around the facility between 1/3 and 2/3rds of the day is required, as well as sitting at a workstation or patient rooms. Using hands occurs over 2/3rds of the day, while reaching with arms less than 1/3rd of the day. Communicating is required over 2/3rds of the day. Lifting up to 10 lbs. occasionally is required.
