Delivers individual, family, and group counseling for patients/clients in chemical dependency programs. Provides direct supervision of patients and clients at all times while in care or as services are being delivered. Acts as a liaison/advocate between patients, relatives, medical staff, and outside agencies, if needed. Monitors and documents patient/client progress and dispensation of treatment services. Maintains working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, skills, procedures, and evidence-based practices within behavioral health/addiction field. Utilizes sound judgment to plan activities and accomplish goals. Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability related to facility and/or program operations. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. Requires a certain degree of creativity and latitude. Reports to a supervisor or manager. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare requires that the clinicians be approved as meeting requirements per IDAPA 16.07.20 subsections 218 and 223 found at: http://adminrules.idaho.gov/rules/current/16/0720.pdf
01. Qualified Substance Use Disorders Professional. A qualified substance use disorders professional includes the following: a. "Licensed Masters Social Worker" (LMSW) licensed under Title 54, Chapter 32, Idaho Code; b. "Associate Marriage and Family Therapist," licensed under Title 54, Chapter 34, Idaho Code; c. "Licensed Professional Counselor" (LPC) licensed under Title 54, Chapter 34, Idaho Code; 02. Qualified Substance Use Disorders Professional Status Granted Prior to May 1, 2010. Subsections 218.01 and 218.02 of this section are applicable to all new applications for appointment as a qualified Substance Use Disorders Professional submitted to the Department after May 1, 2010. If an individual was granted an appointment prior to May 1, 2010, and met the requirements at that time, he may continue to have his appointment recognized.
03. Arrangement for Provision of Counseling Services. If the program arranges for the provision of counseling services, it must maintain a valid written agreement or contract with a qualified substance use disorders professional as defined in Subsection 218.01 of this section.
· Must complete appropriate CEU to keep certification in good standing.
