About the General Surgery Unit
Our General Surgery unit is staffed with safe, compassionate and engaged team members. The General Surgery Unit manages acute medical surgical patients with a wide range of diagnoses and care needs. This unit is a part of the Care Innovation and Transformation (CIT) collaborative, one of 10 units selected from across the nation to participate in the cohort.
· Number of Beds - 30 · Number of Staff - 33 RN's, 21 CNA's, and 3 HUC's · Typical RN to Patient Ratio - 1:5 · Average Patient Turnover Rate - 75%
About the Charge Nurse Job
As a Charge Nurse on our team you will assure quality, safety and satisfaction outcomes are met on your shift, coordinate appropriate patient placement and facilitate patient flow. Our Charge Nurses work with our staffing office to determine appropriate staffing based on census, patient acuity, and skill mix, adjusting assignments and staffing levels as needed throughout shift and addresses any conflicts as they arise. As a Charge Nurse on our team you will demonstrate the ability to adapt model of care delivery to meet available resources, escalate safety concerns appropriately and participates in patient safety initiatives, assure emergency readiness-crash cart and other safety checks are completed per unit requirement, ensure that policies, procedures, and protocols are utilized to prevent staff injury, uphold Nursing by-laws and Professional Practice Model; utilizing the chain of command and Kootenai Health's Patient Care Concern Algorithm as needed for physician communication.
This position is Full Time, Nights (7:00pm-7:30pm).
Requirements & Minimum Qualifications
Education · Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. · BSN or enrollment by December 2017 and continuous progression towards completion of a BSN program by year 2020 required.
Experience · One year nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred.
Licensure/Certification · Licensure in the State of Idaho as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN). · Kootenai Health approved professional certification to be obtained within 12 months or when eligibility requirements are met.
