Established law firm in Federal Way, WA is looking for a bookkeeper for their office. This employee will work under the direction of the Chief Operations Officer to complete all accounting tasks, and will work alongside the billing and accounts receivable specialist to cross train as needed.
Primary Responsibilities - Pay supplier invoices in a timely manner - Take all reasonable discounts on supplier invoices - Pay any debt as it comes due for payment - Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants - Issue invoices to clients (as needed) - Ensure that receivables are collected promptly (as needed) - Record cash receipts and make bank deposits (as needed) - Conduct a monthly reconciliation of every bank account - Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy - Maintain the petty cash fund - Issue financial statements - Provide information to the external CPA who prepares tax returns - Assemble information for external auditors for the annual audit - Calculate and issue financial analysis of the financial statements - Maintain an orderly accounting filing system - Maintain the chart of accounts - Maintain the annual budget - Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management - Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements - Provide clerical and administrative support to management as requested - Monitor bank accounts - Work with payroll company to process semi-monthly payroll.
Qualifications: - Three to five years bookkeeping experience including Quick Books Pro. - Two-year degree in accounting/finance preferred. - Excellent oral and written communication skills. - Highly organized and able to work independently. - Strong computer skills, proficient in Word and Excel. - Detail oriented, well organized and accurate. - Superior problem solving and analytical skills a must. - Familiar with state and federal tax regulations. - Comfortable with learning new software (Time Matters/Billing Matters experience a plus) - Self-starter and energetic; ability to work as a team member; - Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
