Job Description Maintains clinical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Plan. Performs a variety of routine tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration and repair of a limited scope of biomedical equipment with minimal supervision. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge level and experienced in most or all facets of job. Possesses an intermediate level of expertise and is capable of assisting less experienced technicians. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: 1. Associate's degree, military training, or academic work aligned with AAMI's Core Competencies for the Biomedical Equipment Technician 2. 2 years' experience as a BioMedical Equipment Tech 3. Comprehensive knowledge of mathematics, anatomy, physiology, biology, physics, chemistry and medical terminology. 4. Comprehensive understanding and skills related to general electromechanical systems and devices and can communicate the use of supported devices. 5. Comprehensive understanding of both local and national public safety and regulatory issues.
Essential Job Functions (Physical Requirements): Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function. Majority of shift spent on feet walking or standing 8-12 hours per day Communicate with patients, physicians, families and co-workers in person and on telephone. Work with equipment and manipulate equipment settings, computer keyboard, etc.
Work Environment: · Exposure to noise, electrical shock, mechanical hazards, fumes, burns, hazardous chemicals, and infectious wastes. Must be able to utilize all personal protective equipment. · Moves about facility, with stooping, bending, reaching and lifting object over 50 pounds. Pushes heavy equipment and carts. Climbs ladders, balances, kneels, and crouches to make repairs. · Must be safety conscious and aware of hazards such as cleaning solutions, needles, glass, and faulty equipment to prevent injury to self, patients, visitors and staff. Possible exposure to blood and body fluids requiring the use of personal protective equipment Communicate with patients, physicians, families and co-workers in person and on telephone.
