Orange Media Network is seeking an Associate Director of Journalism. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Director.
Student Media informs, persuades, guides, educates and entertains while serving the OSU community and the greater Corvallis area. In the process students receive a comprehensive understanding of the media and the skills needed to create it.
The Associate Director of Journalism provides guidance, training, advice and feedback across all media platforms for student-led programs at Oregon State Universitys student media department, Orange Media Network. The Associate Director of Journalism reports to the Director of Orange Media Network and works closely with the Student Media Leadership Team.
The Associate Director works with the Student Media Leadership Team and students in recruiting, training and coaching student staff and supports students and professional staff in the development of integrated, multimedia journalism in order to facilitate the production of high-quality journalism. The Associate Director provides in-person and written critiques of student-produced, journalistic content immediately following publication or broadcast.
Positions in this job profile perform supervisory and managerial work within a subset of Student Affairs. Duties performed include developing, implementing, and evaluating short and long-range goals and objectives. Employees develop, implement and enforce plans, policies, procedures, systems, programs and performance standards. They participate in strategic planning efforts as part of the management team. They are responsible for managing staff, equipment and facilities. They determine resource needs and priorities and make recommendations to executive management. They determine training needs and make appropriate arrangements for provision of training.
